Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park

It was one sunny day, with once in a while rain mists, when we went around Mt. Fuji particularly the Fuji-Q Highland. We availed the Mt. Fuji Pass from Klook and it didn’t disappoint!

From Shinjuku, we rode a fast train going to Otsuki where the Fuji Excursion Limited Express is stationed. One of the stops of the excursion is the Fuji-Q Highland.

Fuji-Q Highland boasts its extreme rides but we didn’t intend to hop on those ‘exciting’ rides. We are not the daredevil-types haha. Instead, we spent most of our time inside Thomas Land, the section of the amusement park for the little boys. πŸ’™

My two little sons love Thomas and seeing the famous Train excites them. Our trip to Japan is to make the little boys happy and that’s what happened.

The Mt. Fuji Pass from Klook allows us to go inside the amusement park with 1 ride for free! It was a hassle free and fun filled trip around Mt Fuji!

Watch the video above to get a glimpse of our Fuji-Q Highland trip, mostly taken inside Thomas Land. Hope you enjoy! πŸ™‚

Mark Twain Riverboat

Klook Travel

Below video was taken when we were boarding the Mark Twain Riverboat, one of the rides in Tokyo Disneyland. This ride is just perfect when you just want to see the place without exerting much effort as you will ride the riverboat and you will get to see the areas near the river.

Mark Twain Riverboat at Tokyo Disneyland

We waited until 8 PM to get to see the Electric Lights Parade. We don’t know yet when we will be coming back in Tokyo so it’s better to maximize the day and experience how Disneyland looks during day and night.

And yes, the famous castle transformed to a more magical one during the night because of the colorful lights. Plus the colorful parade was surreal, those parades I only get to see in videos. I took a video of the parade and posted it in a separate blog. My eldest son was so happy to see Mickey Mouse in one of the floats. He was a big fan of the famous mouse haha.

My childhood dream to go to Disneyland happened at the age of 34 and I am no longer a child haha. But I made sure that my son’s dream will turn into a reality during his childhood.

We were tired as we stayed at the theme park for one long day but it was worth it. As I have said, I don’t know when we will be coming back to a Disneyland theme park so might as well experience the highlights.

Good thing we have booked the combo round-trip bus from Shinjuku to Disneyland and the Disneyland pass via Klook. We had a comfortable transportation to and from.

And as we were inside the bus, we can rest and wait for the bus to arrive at Shinjuku Prince Hotel, the drop off point nearest to Tokyo Plaza Hotel, the hotel where we are staying.

TWWAGM InstaFinds Blog Series #1: Gawa ni Femi

HearthSong

To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow. ~ Audrey Hepburn

I am a self-confessed plant lover. I have an 8 to 5 to job during weekdays but gardening is one of my me-time during the weekends. I love to make our plants multiply by planting at least three pieces of stem cuttings together in one hole. Or, plant the seeds taken when I am cutting fruits and vegetables.

I cannot remember that I made a plant grow and live when I was younger. I think I haven’t just invested enough time to do so. But within the past 4 years, I was able to make plants grow intentionally and unintentionally (seeds thrown but not sown grew unexpectedly).

I just love how the presence of a plant refreshes any corner of the house. So when I saw the Instagram account Gawa ni Femi , the plants look lovelier than ever!

Gawa ni Femi is a Filipino phrase. Gawa means made, ni means by and Femi is a name of a girl so it means Made by Femi. I haven’t purchased any of Femi’s creations yet since those are easily got sold seconds after posting in Instagram. But I can’t help to admire her creativity and talent in hand-painting cute pots where a small plant can fit in.

Hope I can acquire one of her pots someday, I need to be more alert when she is going to post in Instagram haha. Below are just some of her masterpieces. You can visit her Instagram account here to see more. Enjoy!

Sumilon Sandbar

This side of the island where the sandbar is located is a public property that can get crowded especially in the morning which is a great time for island hopping tours.

But these pictures were taken during the afternoon when we came back few hours after lunch. There are just a few people, hence, we enjoyed it better than our morning visit. It was better in person than in pictures. Waaaay better!

I hope we can visit again soon! For now, I’ll just be contented with the pictures and video below to relive the surreal experience. Enjoy!

Aureo La Union: My Birthday Trip (1st Stop)

I celebrated my 34th birthday this year by going on a road trip with my little family. We headed towards the north and the first stop is in Aureo La Union.

This first class luxury resort is located along San Fernando, its name is derived from Oro which means ‘gold’. All rooms have a private balcony and the view from our room is a well-maintained garden with sofa/lounges on the middle section that gives the homey vibe and relaxing ambience.

The resort’s atmosphere sets the tone for a total R&R, its beach, pools, & water sports pumps up the adrenaline while the restaurant and bars replenishes the energy.

After our two-night stay, I wish we can stay a bit longer. πŸ˜… But we need to move forward and go to our 2nd stop (separate blog entry here).

Aureo is truly a home away from home and hope we could go back soon! Plan your trip as well and experience it yourself. For now, please check our pictures below. Enjoy!

Lilom Resort: Quaint vacation spot in Anilao, Batangas

I was searching for a beach resort as our quick escape on my youngest son’s (bunso) 2nd birthday. Living in the south of Metro Manila, the first place that would come to mind is Batangas. I stumbled upon this quaint resort in Anilao which has only 7 rooms, hence, the need for an advance reservation.

Luckily, we we were able to squeeze in our schedule the resort’s only available slot during the birthday week that seems everything has fallen into place. It was a quick two-hour drive from Cavite to Anilao. We encountered light rain showers along the way but hope to have a good weather once we are in our destination.

The seemingly smooth drive ended and the struggle to find the resort started. Anilao’s setting is very steep so most of the resorts are situated several meters below the road, hence, the need for several steps to go down the coastline. We have to ask someone from the area where exactly Lilom Resort is. Though we have seen a small signage along the steep road, I cannot see the resort around the area. Husband mistakenly entered an open gate thinking it would lead us to it. And suddenly an old woman from another house shouted that there is a dog inside the gate, I started to cringe thinking the danger that almost happened – my husband is carrying my youngest son.

So we were left with a narrow edge of a wall built few meters below, the old woman told us to go down there. It was not a conventional way of going down. Honestly, I am uncomfortable because the wall is quite high from the ground and i am leading my four-year old son. I have to set aside my fear of heights to make sure that we are safe until we get to the ground. To make it short, the climb going to the resort is quite a struggle.

We have to walk past the rocky shore with quite strong waves of noon time. But I felt relieved when I already saw the gate that I am seeing from the uploaded pictures online.

As soon as I enter the gate, the setting changed from struggle to a peaceful state. The rooms are made of wooden materials that give off the nature vibe. The check-in was a breeze, thank God! We were able to get into our room in no time. Husband has to go back to the car to get the rest of our luggage. As soon as we settled, we are able to enjoy the buffet lunch that is part of the full board meals inclusive in the Php 3,000.00 package rate per person. Kids stay for free.

There are not so many options but the lunch was very filling, plus it is buffet style so you can eat as much as you want. We also get to enjoy the serenity of the place while having lunch. The weather was cloudy which I really like. After lunch, my little boys were already in their rash guards and ready to dip in the sunset pools.

Three o’clock came and the hot chocolate and suman (rice cake covered in leaves) was served as Merienda. Yes, it is part of the full-board meals. Even I just had my lunch I can’t help but sip the hot chocolate and finish 1 suman in minutes. The Merienda combo is complimenting – sweetness of the chocolate and the coconut flavor of the suman. We stayed beside the sunset pools the whole afternoon, staring at the sea while having fun time with the kids.

Just before sunset, we were asked by the resort staff if we want to get the sunset cocktails – homemade mojito and toasted bread with tomato salsa. You will never get hungry in Lilom resort. πŸ˜€ All we did was eat, rest, have fun and enjoy.

Around seven o’clock in the evening, we had the buffet dinner. Even if we ate a lot during the day, we can’t let the dinner pass because the food is equally sumptuous. There is no television in the rooms but there is free WiFi in the resort, so no biggie. I stayed at the hammock outside our room and little did I know that I already slept for a few minutes. I went inside our air-conditioned room and my little boys still have the energy and they ended up in bed with their gadgets watching their favorite videos and playing their go to game apps. These kids – 2 and 4 years old are already tech savvy.

The next morning, we had our filling breakfast and stayed in the sunset pools and rocky shores. We only booked for one night so we really need to maximize our stay. Every minute counts. πŸ˜€

It was short but sweet. The struggle getting down to the resort was redeemed by our memorable stay. I would love to go back and had the plan B in mind when that time comes to avoid the steep route going down the resort. There is another way but it is located in a higher area, hence involves at least a hundred steps going down the stairs. At least, it has the stairs and not an edge of the wall. πŸ˜€

Will bring my parents with us in our next visit. Don’t be discouraged with the short struggle going down to the resort. It was one of the most filling and relaxing stay I ever had. You only need to do is to enjoy, eat and relax then Lilom Resort will do the rest. Below are the IG-worthy pictures we had in the resort. Enjoy!
